Year round blue skies, stunning landscapes and a vibrant, diverse community - that's Alice Springs! "A Town like Alice" is the real heart of Outback Australia, a thousand miles from Darwin in the north and Adelaide in the south. From here your adventure begins......
Day 1 Alice Springs
Welcome to Alice Springs! Upon arrival, we'll collect you by private vehicle for an immediate sightseeing tour of Alice Springs. This tour covers many interesting highlights including visiting the Royal Flying Doctors Service to learn how this marvellous facility operates to provide a “Mantle of Safety” to the people of the outback. See how routine medical clinics are provided to isolate outback areas. You'll visit the very historic Old Telegraph Station midway along the Overland line from Darwin to Adelaide which played a key role in Australia’s development. Then we call in at the “School of the Air” and sometimes are able to listen to the children take lessons on air. We also take in a panoramic view of Alice Springs from ANZAC Hill lookout. From the top one can see over the modern Alice Springs Township and beyond to the McDonnell Ranges that form a southern boundary to the town. On completion of the tour, transfer to your resort hotel near the centre of Alice Springs.
Day 2 Kings Canyon
Enjoy breakfast this morning at the hotel before collection by your private vehicle with your driver/guide for your Red Centre Touring. We leave Alice Springs and travel 6 hours to your lovely hotel and spa in Kings Canyon with comfort rather unexpected in such a remote region. Later this afternoon, transfer by private vehicle to Kings Canyon to experience the Creek Walk. The short Creek Walk is about 1.5 km (about an hour return) and meanders up the centre of the canyon to a lookout point on the left hand side of the valley which affords a view of the sheer cliff face at the end of the canyon. It runs from the monument just beyond the car park. Information signs on the Aboriginal cultural uses of the area are located at several points along the route. On completion, you can freshen up and enjoy the rest of the evening at your own leisure. (Breakfast)
Day 3 Ayers Rock/Olgas
Enjoy a boxed breakfast before early collection by private vehicle with your driver/guide for transfer from the Resort to the Canyon to embark on the magnificent Rim Walk. Kings Canyon is best viewed from the top. To reach the plateau and the head of the canyon you take the marked path that starts at the car park. Arriving there, you enter a different world. The plateau itself consists of a maze of small valleys topped by domed ridges of rock with a texture so ancient looking that the overall effect is one of a ruined city. Take a walk around the rim of the Canyon and on to the peaceful Garden of Eden passing through hundreds of domes of the Lost City and into a lush oasis of trees, palms, rock pools and shady crevices. We then continue onto Ayers Rock. Upon arriving at your resort hotel and spa, you will have some time to freshen up before this afternoon’s touring. You will be collected by your private vehicle-driver/guide for the Olgas & Ayers Rock Sunset tour. Experience the harsh Outback on a visit to the massive series of conglomerate domes known as the Olgas. Spend some time exploring the gorge and the unusual rock formations. Walk into the peaceful valley’s shady gorges among 36 towering rock domes that make up the Olgas. In the late afternoon, we arrive at the sunset viewing area to witness and photograph the striking colour changes that can take place in this majestic part of Australia and on such a huge monolith in the desert plain. Enjoy Champagne & Nibbles as you watch the sunset. Return to the hotel after sunset. (Breakfast)
Day 4
An early collection this morning by private vehicle-driver/guide for the Ayers Rock Sunrise and Base Tour. Upon arrival at Uluru (Ayers Rock) watch the sun light up the morning, displaying the many colour’s of Uluru. Enjoy the sunrise views. With your guide, do the morning guided tour around the base of Uluru. This will show you some of the many caves in which local Aborigines have left their mark from a bygone era. View ancient cave paintings and learn about Aboriginal legends of Kuniya Tjukurpa (Python Dreaming). Visit the Maruku Arts and Crafts Centre and the Park Headquarters where you will enjoy breakfast. On completion of the tour transfer back to the hotel. Later this afternoon transfer by private vehicle-driver/guide to Ayers Rock Airport for your flight. (Breakfast)
If required, your Arrival Airport is Alice Springs Airport (ASP) and your Departure Airport is Ayers Rock Airport (AYQ).
