When The War Will End......
I came across this gem of a poem in my travels in cyberspace. It was written by a British script writer and comic novelist who wrote many musical plays for the London theatre. I suspect it was written about the First World War ending and not the Second but if anyone knows better please let us know!!!!
WHEN THE WAR WILL END Reginald Arkell (1872-1959)
Actual evidence I have none,
But my aunt's charwoman's sister's son
Heard a policeman, on his beat,
Say to a housemaid in Downing Street
That he had a brother who had a friend,
Who knew when the war was going to end.
Priceless.........
